Summary
Helen qualified as a Registered Midwife in October 1994. Since qualifying she has worked for the same NHS Trust, gaining experience in all areas of midwifery care, in both the hospital and community setting. She additionally has undertaken homebirths and waterbirths. Her specialist knowledge and expertise whilst working for the NHS was in the provision of all aspects of Antenatal Care, whilst still maintaining her intrapartum (labour and delivery) and postnatal midwifery skills.
In December 2009, Helen launched her own Independent Midwifery Practice called "Midwife Care" and offers women antenatal and postnatal home midwifery appointments. Her clients can choose to access either additional antenatal and postnatal midwifery appointments to supplement existing NHS care or alternatively full antenatal and postnatal care packages are available. Helen does not currently offer intrapartum care; all her clients are booked to deliver at an NHS or private hospital.
Helen also provides antenatal classes on a one to one level as well as group classes. Helen aims to offer all her clients access to "personal midwifery" through bespoke care.
Helen still continues to work for the NHS but on a locum basis only now, as her Independent Midwifery Practice "Midwife Care" has built up to into a busy thriving practice.
Helen very much enjoys her work as a midwife and is passionate about providing individualised care to the women she looks after. She is a conscientious midwife, keeping herself up to date in all areas of practice , and providing evidence based care.
Additional information
- Helen recently completed a Research contract, as
a Local Coordinating Midwife, for some Government funded research called
"Birthplace". The aim of the study is to identify whether morbidity
& mortality of mother and baby are affected by the place of birth.
- The results of the study are likely to shape future
maternity provisions of care.
- Helen runs a private midwifery practice, Midwife
Care, covering London and North Kent.
