Sweeney Chaloner Surgical Chambers: Vascular surgeons, London
The Sweeney Chaloner Surgical Chambers combine the expertise of two of London's leading vascular surgeons, Aaron Sweeney and Eddie Chaloner. In addition to running the NHS vascular surgery unit at Lewisham NHS Trust, they have a thriving private practice, offering a better service to both patients and General Practitioners than the traditional "stand alone" surgical consultant.
- The surgeons cover each other’s patients when one is away on leave.
- they work together to develop innovative aspects of the practice.
- They are able offer a wider choice of consultation times and locations for patients.

He was appointed as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at University College Hospitals London in 2001, moving to Lewisham Hospital in 2005.
He has a particular interest in the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins and was the first surgeon in London to use the endovenous laser (EVLT). With over 300 successful cases he is one of the most experienced varicose vein surgeons in the UK with this technique.

Treatment services
The practice offers both the traditional approaches to varicose vein surgery, and newer methods of treatment which are less invasive and damaging to the patient. Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) of varicose veins is a revolutionary minimally invasive procedure, which treats varicose veins under local anaesthetic with no surgical incisions.
The post-operative discomfort and bruising is less than with traditional varicose vein surgery, and patients return to work faster than after traditional surgery.
It is rapidly becoming the 'gold standard' for varicose vein surgery in the UK.
Where can I go for treatment?
Varicose vein treatment is provided by this private practice through the local private hospitals in South East London (The Sloane Hospital, Beckenham, Chelsfield Park Hospital, Orpington, the Blackheath Hospital and Shirley Oaks Hospital, Croydon), and also in Central London at the Lister Hospital, in Chelsea .
Contact details
Private patients are encouraged to obtain a referral from their General Practitioner prior to coming to see one of the surgeons. This ensures that your GP is fully informed of what is going on with your care. The practice routinely writes to GP’s after seeing patients for private consultations to maintain continuity of care.
