The London Breast Clinic at 108 Harley Street has recently completed an audit of its five year survival for patients diagnosed between 1998 and 2002. In all cases of invasive breast cancer during this period patient survival is 98.2%; this compares to the UK average of 80% and the USA average of 90%.

Whilst breast cancer survival rates depend on many factors, the clinic believes that the following have played an important part in the continued wellbeing of its patients:

  • Rapid access to specialist Breast Consultants
  • Rapid access to high quality imaging, digital mammography, ultrasound and MRI with reporting by breast specialist radiologists
  • Rapid access to surgery.
  • Assistance of a skilled pathologist to provide intra-operative frozen section to ensure both tumour clearance and clear margins therefore minimising the need for a second operation and also reducing the incidence of local recurrence.
  • Rapid access to specialist Oncologists
  • No delay in access to radiotherapy or chemotherapy as required
  • Regular follow up with imaging
  • A high quality multi-disciplinary team with patient care as its focus
