The London Orthopaedic Clinic is excited to welcome a new consultant, Dr Deane Halfpenny to the fold, as the specialist centre continues to develop and expand its offering of skilled specialists and physicians at the Wimpole Street premises.

Dr Deane Halfpenny, who is now seeing patients, is a consultant in musculoskeletal pain medicine, and brings with him a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge with particular areas of expertise including spinal pain and injury, acute back, neck and shoulder pain, myofascial pain syndromes and neuropathic pain.

Having graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1990, Dr Halfpenny went on to complete his early medical training in the United Kingdom, followed by a six year period in the field of anaesthesia and 2 years of research as a lecturer at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. After completing an additional years training in advanced pain medicine, he became a consultant in 2001 and has established interventional services in the management of pain and movement both within the NHS and private sector.

Dr Halfpenny is also a keen sports person, having competed as a gymnast at a national level in South Africa. This enables him to have an invaluable insight into the management of pain in both the professional and amateur sporting arena.

Dr Halfpenny will work closely with multi-professional colleagues both within the Clinic itself and other leading medical institutions including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, cognitive psychologists and personal trainers.

Dr Halfpenny comments; “I’m delighted to join such a prestigious orthopaedic establishment at the heart of London’s medical community. The team at LOC is renowned for its expertise and outstanding patient care and I look forward to working with colleagues and clients alike.”
