thorough history will be taken followed by an expert physical
examination.

Imaging, should x-ray or ultrasound investigation be required. Other

Once diagnosis has been confirmed, appropriate

Mr Gordon Buchanan MD MSc FRCS (Gen)
Gordon
Buchanan is Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Imperial
College Healthcare NHS Trust, London. He is experienced in carrying out a
wide variety of Colorectal and General Surgical procedures.
He graduated from St. Thomas' Hospital, London and
undertook colorectal and general surgical training in South East
England. He also received advanced colorectal training at St. Mark's
Hospital, Harrow, St. Thomas' Hospital, London and Mount Sinai Hospital,
Toronto, Canada. During additional laparoscopic colorectal training
fellowships, in Colchester and Yeovil, Gordon Buchanan undertook
laparoscopic appendicectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic
hernia repair as well as benign and malignant laparoscopic colorectal
resection.
Mr Emin Carapeti MBBS MD FRCS (Gen)
Emin
Carapeti is Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Guy’s and St.
Thomas’ Hospitals. He is a Member of Council of the Section of
Coloproctology of the Royal Society of Medicine, a member of the
Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and an
examiner in surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He graduated from Guy’s Hospital and undertook his
training in London and South East England. His specialist training was
at St. Mark’s Hospital in London and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
His special interests are rectal bleed, colonoscopy, colorectal cancer,
management of fissures, haemorrhoids and pilonidal sinus disease, and he
is a specialist in the surgical treatment of Crohn's disease and
ulcerative colitis.
Dr Devinder Singh Bansi BM DM FRCS
Dr Bansi qualified from Southampton University Medical
School in 1988. After completing professional junior medical posts and
obtaining his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Dr
Bansi was appointed Research Fellow in Gastroenterology at the John
Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford (1993-1996).
He returned to London in 1996 as a Senior
Specialist Registrar on the North Thames East rotation and received
further comprehensive training in therapeutic gastroscopy, colonoscopy
and ERCP at the Middlesex Hospital. Dr Bansi completed his training in
gastroenterology and general medicine in 1998 and he was then appointed
Consultant Gastroenterologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Medicine
to the Hammersmith Hospital NHS Trust and the Royal Postgraduate Medical
School (now part of Imperial College) in 1999. His particular interests
are therapeutic endoscopy and ERCP, gastrointestinal malignant disease,
inflammatory bowel disease and hepatopancreaticobiliary medicine.
Mr. Ahmed R Ahmed BSc(Hons) FRCS (Gen)
Mr Ahmed is a Consultant Surgeon at Charing Cross
Hospital, Imperial College London. He set up and heads the bariatric and
metabolic surgery unit which is now a leading unit in the UK designated
as an NHS preferred provider and provisionally recognised as an
International Bariatric Surgery Centre of Excellence ASMBS.
He trained at University College London and
Middlessex Hospital School of Medicine. Prior to his Consultant
appointment he undertook extensive training in laparoscopic (keyhole)
surgery in both the UK and USA.
